The role will be responsible for providing packaging technology expertise, knowledge, advice, and leadership, along with packaging project and issue management to ensure this highly succesful consumer healthcare & personalcare site meets all its supply objectives.
Provide expertise and leadership to ensure robust and capable NPI’s and packaging innovations are developed, transferred and delivered into meeting performance and timing commitments.
Provide expertise and leadership for all packaging aspects of the site safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives.
Be the site expert for all primary, secondary and tertiary packaging at the site including supplier capability. Additionally be the site expert for all the packaging processes and control systems.
Resolve packaging quality and supply issues with robust solutions.
Maintain site packaging databases controlling: packaging specifications, logistic information, environmental information, artwork profiles, and packaging material compliance information eg; QMS, Food Contact etc.
Analysis site packaging performance data to search for way to improve quality, OEE, reduce waste, cost and customer complaints.
Network into the internal Packaging community and external community seeking improvements, learnings, best practice and advice for the benefit of the site and group as a whole to ensure a competitive advantage is established and shared.
Knowledge/ Education / Previous Experience Required for this role ...
Degree in a relevant technical subject (Packaging Technology, Material Science, Design Technology, Engineering) or comparable technical experience.
Member of Packaging Institute
To have relevant knowledge and understand of packaging material, their production processes and requirements of packaging in production, distribution, retail and with customers.
3 + years experience in technical discipline covering range of Packaging formats applicable to FMCG or Healthcare/Personalcare.
To have relevant understanding of packaging, materials, forming and finishing processes, suppliers, packing lines, the interaction between line and pack, specifications and documentation (incl. BOM’s), and statistical process control/qualification, quality improvement methodology and test methods in a relevant environment.
Good communication ability both written and oral with all levels within a business – from shop floor to senior management.
Good computer skills.
Experience of SAP or similar systems.
Ability and willingness to travel within UK and internationally sometimes at short notice.
Full clean driving license.
Salary up to £48k (dependant on skills & experience)
Early finish on Fridays
