Shift Manager - Corrugated


Hours of Work: Rolling Shifts – 6:00am to 2:00pm, 2:00pm to 10:00pm and 10:00pm to 6:00am - To be discussed in the interview

Our client is an independent corrugated packaging manufacturer based in the South West. They have been established for over 35 years, providing clients with bespoke, stock item and branded corrugated packaging. They are currently looking to recruit a Shift Manager to join their team.


Management of Shift Personnel:

  • Support super Users (covering breaks, providing sufficient staff for specific process)
  • Enforcing the H & S policy
  • Enforcing the quality policy
  • Enforcing the code of conduct
  • Responding to every day issues with factory staff (overtime, discipline, holidays etc) and relay to the Line Manager when required


Quality Checks:

  • Ensuring the working environment and all products are manufactured in line with the quality policy, adhering to the standard operating procedures and within customer specifications


Management of Production Process:

  • Communicating and implementing, in line with policies and procedures, the production plan to the factory floor / machines
  • Controlling the influx of materials / consumables, in line with policies and procedures, to ensure sufficient production area
  • Ensuring sufficient materials / consumables are available, in line with policies and procedures, for continuation of production flow
  • Ensuring the production floor is kept clear, clean and safe as per the minimum standard outlined and company obligation to various customers, in line with policies and procedures
  • Projects – As part of the company’s continuous improvement strategy various tasks will be assigned to the Shift Manager for completion
  • Organising cover between Shift Managers to ensure sufficient personnel on site at all times to achieve primary, secondary and miscellaneous duties


Production Administration:

  • Ensuring Data is entered into the IT system promptly and accurately
  • Reconcile during / after production, run the warehouse quantities and delivered quantities
  • Checking / signing off labels, work order sheets and delivery notes
  • Documenting / checking, photographing of tops / bottoms and warped / damaged / unsuitable board
  • End of day production reports
  • Stock checks
  • Various employee documentation including, but not limited to, return work sheets, holidays, disciplinaries, training and thereon
  • Creating and printing finished goods labels / labels and delivery notes


General Operator Duties:

  • Operate fork lift
  • Stacking pallets
  • Gluing (various)
  • Operating machines as required to fulfil production
