Our Client is a leader producer of printed folding cartons and bespoke packaging systems supplier to a range of food markets throughout the UK, due to a restructure in their production operations, they currently have an exciting new opportunity for an Experienced Engineering / Maintenance Manager to effectively manage the teams at their North sites.

Reporting to Operations Manager the primary purpose of this role is to keep production at full potential by ensuring machines are maintained to a high standard. To provide clear leadership for direct reports, organising labour to ensure smooth running of all production machinery to maximise plant output, quality and efficiencies whilst maintaining high levels of safety and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the production and associated areas in a safe manner, within budgetary controls and in accordance with set standards (BRC/IoP; ISO, H & S)
  • Focus on downtime improvements on machines by reviewing current practices/procedures
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors, supervising all servicing of machinery carried out by contractors
  • Provide information and reports on KPI’s
  • Providing technical guidance and support to other members of the team
  • Communicating on a daily basis with other department leaders to maintain continuity of information
  • Maintain good safety, housekeeping and hygiene standards within the department
  • Take part in projects when required
  • Attend daily production and other meetings as required
  • Produce daily, weekly,  monthly and annual reports for the department and team
  • Maintaining relevant records & documentation within the department
  • Participate in quality and health and safety actions/audits
  • Lead training and development programmes for team
  • Promote good teamwork within the department 
  • Manage staffing requirements – liaise with HR and conduct disciplinary, absence and performance meetings as and when required
  • Perform any other duties as required/instructed by the Operations or Plant Manager’s

    The successful candidate will:

  • HNC in Mechanical or Electrical engineering as minimum, and the ability to demonstrate a strong technical and/or engineering competence
  • You will have a disciplined and process oriented mind-set focusing on and continually challenging to raise standards
  • You should be familiar with the practice and application of a systematic approach to problem solving and have a strong work ethic with the desire to succeed
  • Preferably with experience (or awareness) of machinery associated with print manufacturing (Komori, Heidelberg, Bobst) or similar manufacturing machines in an FMCG environment, you will have knowledge and experience of TPM/PPM programmes and 18th or 17th Edition
  • Using your outstanding management and communication skills, you must be able to lead, mentor, encourage and motivate your team, driving forward improvements and changes wherever necessary to meet the needs of the business
  • You must be reliable, able to effectively prioritise and adapt to a varied and changeable workload and have a flexible approach to working hours
  • A full clean UK Diving License is essential
