Packaging Technologist /Artwork Coordinator (12 month contract)


  • Responsible for the planning and delivery of packaging. Working closely with the Buying, Merchandising, Technical and Design teams, external artwork agency and suppliers in both the UK and the Far East to ensure packaging is delivered to the highest standard, meeting all required design and construction requirements, within the required time frames set out in the critical path.

  • Senior Packaging Technologist

Key Responsibilities:

Packaging Range/Packaging Construction Development:

  • Manage the buying teams range plan to brief all product line artworks, including photography samples and artwork.
  • Develop effective packaging solutions through use of external suppliers and own knowledge
  • Brief packaging artwork using the online artworking approval system
  • Working independently managing packaging across several product areas
  • Attends regular progress meeting with buying teams
  • Tracks artwork/sample status and reports any issues to the Senior Pack Tech

Progressing/Approving the range:

  • Manage the timely delivery and day to day tasks of all packaging developments
  • Ensure packaging artwork is briefed/progressed and despatched on time
  • Maintain packaging process reporting systems
  • Maintain relationships and communication with all product teams and suppliers for the project life cycle
  • Pre-empt issues through effective planning and understanding of your product areas

Packaging Costs/Buying:

  • Continually has an awareness of cost implications and drivers of the packaging budget
  • Seasonal Mock Shops – has a focus on ways to cost save, and work more cost efficiently

Packaging Artwork Development:

  • Co-ordinating copy, cutter guides, photo samples in line with design guidelines
  • Brief artwork onto online system
  • Manages artwork approval process with internal stake holders
  • Proof/wetproof colour management as per design guidelines


  • Previous retail packaging experience a distinct advantage
  • Understanding of Print Processes & Colour management technologies
  • Tenacious attention to detail
  • Organisational/planning skills (Time Management)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Passion and enthusiasm for retail packaging artwork and design
