Salary: £40,000 to £45,000
Responsible for the introduction of all new tooling projects into production
Project Tooling Manager is responsible for ensuring activities are completed for all projects to the required level, as well as contributing and supporting where necessary
To work with designers and tool makers to ensure that all component designs are in line with design for manufacture principles
Support RFQ activities for new potential business by providing tool cost estimates and feasibility of design
Conducting RFQ and nominations activities, with confirmed business, for new tooling and automation equipment
Managing the manufacture of new tooling/automation equipment and communicating the status to the project team
To co-ordinate and carry out tool design reviews, ensuring all tool designs are reviewed in line with company procedures
To visit toolmakers during tool manufacture to confirm status.
To supervise and carry out tool trials, in conjunction with Moulding Engineering
To carry out pre-delivery checks on tools to ensure toolmakers have followed the required standards.
Agree corrective actions with project team, Toolmakers and external toolmakers.
To be an active member of Design and Process FMEA teams.
Produce and work to timing plans in line with the master schedule for each project
Control and progress the installation of new tooling/equipment relevant to moulding process
Liaising with suppliers to plan tool/equipment improvements and modifications
Ensure all new tooling is kept within budget
Responsible for all project timing plans regarding tooling manufacture and maturation
As the Tooling Manager you will also be expected to be proficient in the following areas:
Reporting the status of all new projects regarding tooling to Senior Management
To ensure the tooling procurement standard is up dated regularly in line with lessons learnt from current projects
Co-ordinating the activities of the Tooling Engineers allocating work load within the team.
