Technical Support Engineer Germany

Based in Düsseldorf, Germany

Salary:              Commensurate with experience

  • Promotes and presents a high level and professional image of themselves and the company at all times
  • Manage Product Trails and completes installation & machine commissioning in accordance with the client’s specifications and layout documentation.
  • Promotes Service Contracts and Sales, including Original Spares and Upgrades throughout the region
  • Provide routine maintenance and planned servicing of equipment in accordance with service contracts and schedules
  • Provide training to clients in operating and basic maintenance of equipment; also training of company staff as required
  • Documents and manages all second hand equipment from abroad
  • Provide input and feedback to the R&D Team, relating to product modifications, faults and development potential

Specific Duties:

  • Provide first, second and third level support, in relation to breakdowns and/or customer queries, responding by either telephone or site visits, and within set timeframes.
  • Attend to customers’ requests for technical assistance:
    • Issue fully completed service reports 
    • Fully inform customer’s representative of equipment status
    • Assist in payment recovery
    • Maintain a complete time record and report it weekly, so client can be billed (if applicable)
    • Maintain a complete list of customer’s equipment
  • During “Slack Periods” pay courtesy visits to customers.
  • Reports on all service visits and technical issues each week
  • Provide training to customers (and co-workers) in relation to proper operation, preventative maintenance, and fault finding of equipment
  • Provide support and work closely with the Sales and Project Management teams
  • Communicate the benefits of Service Contracts to clients and assist the Sales Manager in formulating the Service Contract
  • Promote the value of “original spares” and upgrading equipment
  • Promote the sales of new equipment by providing and distributing information, verbally, electronically and by brochures
  • Support Project Managers on all installations, ensuring layouts are correct and all documentation has been received
  • Develop strong professional relationships with all customers and provide feedback to the Sales Team regarding prospective capital investment obtained through such relationships
  • Document all equipment in storage and update it regularly. Together with the Manager, decide what needs to be discarded.
  • Represent the company at trade fairs, exhibitions & networking events (including some weekends)
  • Travel at short notice, locally and overseas, including some weekends


  • Qualifications in mechatronics, mechanical or electrical engineering, electrical trade or other relevant field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a field engineering position servicing, and dealing with mechanical, electrical and software issues. (essential)
  • An equivalent European degree to British standard NVQ3, ONC or HNC in Mechanical &/or Electronic Engineering
  • Exposure to the manufacturing industry (specifically food and packaging) is advantageous
  • Working knowledge of current market trends and competitors
  • Sound knowledge of AutoCAD and MS Project
  • Fully competent in industrial electronic theory and schematics
  • Understands PLC

  • Bilingual with English language proficiency, written and verbal (if applicable)
  • Valid Driver’s License and prepared to travel at short notice, locally and overseas
  • Mechanical Aptitude, methodical and well organised
