The role:

The key objective of the Supply Chain Manager position is to introduce better processes and systems in line with my client’s corporate strategy leading the development of team personnel going forward. Under the company’s stewardship, the growth plans for the company are to nearly double its revenues (around £60M) through its product range and expanded international sales team.

Key responsibilities:

  • People management
  • Leadership of two buyers
  • Manage personnel training and development plans for future growth
  • Evaluate performance of staff and identify where improvement is needed and motivate the team to implement the required changes
  • Liaise and build relationships with Suppliers, Plant Managers, Operations Directors, Planning Managers, and Sales in the UK and Europe

 

 

Process and business improvement:

  • Introduce more modern approach and techniques into planning, forecasting, stock replenishment, materials management and day to day procurement
  • In particular, introduce better stock management systems
  • Cost reduction and control across all spend categories
  • Establish/improve forecasts and reorder levels

 

 

Daily functional supply chain management:

  • Control spend of circa £20M (negotiated by Commercial Director)
  • Negotiate indirect purchasing spend of circa £2M
  • Manage third party logistics contracts
  • Manage the supply and raw material stock levels
  • Deliver cost saving initiatives
  • Procurement of materials
  • Manage forecasting requirements with customers and sales teams
  • Replenishment of materials

Person Profile:

  • Hands-on management style – takes accountability for delivering success
  • Experienced in packaging or similar fast paced manufacturing environment
  • Background in planning, purchasing or logistics
  • Knowledge of documentation / procedures for exporting is of great interest
  • Experienced in dealing with 3rd party logistic providers
  • Knowledge of SAP is desirable (due for implementation in next 12 months)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Good at organising and planning
  • Self-motivated and good communication skills
  • Good influencer; able to interact with people at all levels
  • IT Literacy
