Are you an experienced Packaging Innovation Manager? New opportunity to join a highly reputable food business in the North West!

This highly reputable business specialises in the manufacture of premium products with a high level of focus on innovation, they are the market leaders for large scale categories of the sector in which they trade and are renowned for the unique and proactive product offering.

As Category Innovation Support Manager, it will be your responsibility to ensure that the foundations are laid for the innovation team to be able to build a strong pipeline of innovative products through packaging concepts. Reporting directly to the Director of Innovation, you will conduct market research to establish and assess current and future direction of trends for all things packaging, pre-empting future direction of innovation to support NPD delivery. You will work closely with Innovation, Procurement and Technical teams to deliver the very best, most effective and innovative solutions possible.

You will continuously challenge current packaging performance and costings, as well as working with both NPD and process to ensure suitable trials are in place and formats are tested prior to launch/change over. You will ensure that the knowledge transfer of packaging supplier capabilities and innovation is delivered to both the NPD and internal procurement team. Working alongside procurement to ensure that prototypes are available at the initial stage of NPD. Ensuring that supplier capabilities are known and interrogated prior to initial reviews with our external stakeholders.

Your key challenge will be being able to work cross-functionally and inter-department to drive a consumer-led approach to the NPD process.

Key requirements/accountabilities:

  • Educated to degree level, or equivalent, preferably in a business or a marketing related field
  • Up to date knowledge of the UK Food packaging industry and its supplier network
  • A strategic thinker with a critical eye for detail
  • Organised and diligent with strong influencing, presentation and forward planning skills
  • Ability to multi-task and develop root cause analysis

It is paramount that you work to retail standards in regards to trends and insight management, creativity and innovation as well as quality and performance, ensuring that the business profile as a key supplier is continuously raised.
