Packaging Development Manager - Beauty, Personalcare & Home categories

As Packaging Development Manager, you will be responsible for coaching & developing the European Packaging team, managing two Packaging Technologists & one Technician for all activities to support NPD.
To deliver NPD on all new products for specified brands across Personal Care, Beauty, Nutrition and Homecare categories.
You will be reporting to the R&D Director.
You will be providing packaging development service to Global and Regional Category & Brand Teams and to Supply Chain Teams.
Lead packaging development through design, develop and implement stages of identified NPD activity, in-line with the companies packaging strategy.
Proactively seek out packaging ideas that drive Innovation in pack design and sustainability.
Coach and develop direct reports leading their performance management and personal development.
Manage any laboratory tests and production trials necessary to ensure robust packaging solutions for all products.
Provide technical packaging expertise to the design and development of any printed packaging materials.
Support the development of any relevant packaging related documentation. Review and approval of technical drawings, artwork, pre-production seal standards, as required to launch products. Work to identify and communicate the Global Packaging Standards and test methods.
Work closely with Technical Packaging and Procurement teams to measure and develop competence and capability of third party suppliers, nominated suppliers to ensure robust, efficient and effective packaging solutions.
Knowledge, skills & experience required
IOP or other recognised packaging qualification to HND/Graduate level.
Degree in Packaging, Packaging Design or Engineering Discipline.
At least 5 years’ experience of delivering new packaging development within at least one of the following categories: Retail or FMCG (brand or own label) in Personal Care, Beauty, Nutrition or Homecare.
Track record of working with the design and brand management functions of product development to deliver the required product image & positioning.
An understanding of all or some of the following to a high level:
Print methods, design repro, and proofing. Rigid packaging design and development including tool development. Polymer Science, including materials, production processes, Print methods, repro, and proofing. Flexible / Rigid packaging design and development including tool development. Dispensing technology. Corrugated and Transit Packaging Gift and Accessory Sourcing and Procurement Component and Finished Product manufacturing processes and equipment
