Field Sales Executives & New Business Sales Executive

Sector: Packaging Distribution

Package: OTEs ranging £40-£50k+ including attractive Basic Salaries, Uncapped Commission, Bonus, Company Car, Smartphone, I-Pad & Excellent PLC Benefits

The Company

Macfarlane Group PLC is the UK’s largest packaging distributor and due to continued growth, we are seeking to hire two experienced Sales Executives & one specialist ‘new business’ (hunter) Sales Executive to join our highly successful sales team based out of our Newcastle site. As a business, we are passionate about providing fully integrated and innovative packaging solutions augmented by outstanding customer service. As a Group we are continuing to grow significantly and always keen to attract new sales talent to our business.

The Sales Executive Roles

Reporting to the Regional Business Manager at our Newcastle site, ours are very much  ‘full sales cycle’  positions, whereby you shall be managing a significant portfolio of existing core customers but you will also need to focus a large percentage of your time upon generating new business too. Your ability to allocate time effectively between both existing account management/development and new business generation shall greatly dictate your success in meeting set targets.

The New Business Sales Executive Role

A more specialist version of our sales role, covering a wider Northeast territory (including into Cumbria), the successful applicant will be a true ‘hunter’ who is 100% focused on building and converting a pipeline of new customers for our site. A strong track record of success within new business development is certainly essential to be considered for this one.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a business plan for allocated territory in order to maximise sales & deliver excellent standards of customer service at all times (applies to all three roles)
  • Maintain and develop existing accounts (not applying to new business role), whilst also identifying new business opportunities and extending the customer base
  • Maintain strong sales administration including use of CRM to follow up all leads, enquiries/quotes
  • Adopt a consultative approach with clients in tailoring appropriate solutions to meet needs whilst developing/maintaining a strong knowledge of all packaging solutions and full product range

Do you have the correct profile?

We welcome applications from experienced B2B field sales professionals (minimum 18 months experience of ‘solution selling’ ideally). You will be an effective negotiator, with the ability to pro-actively build strong relationships via first class communication and influencing skills. You will enjoy genuinely ‘adding value’ to customers via a consultative sales approach. As mentioned, a strong track-record of new business development is particularly important to apply for the new business role. A more rounded sales profile across both disciplines is more appropriate for our other two roles.

Whilst packaging sales experience isn’t essential, it would of course be advantageous.  Otherwise, a background in having sold consumable products but within a ‘solutions’ based approach would fit best. You must live ‘on patch’ (within one of the stated territory areas) and have a valid UK driving licence. Accustomed to selling with real integrity, you will be used to delighting customers and have a demonstrable track record of sales success in terms of achieving targets consistently.

The Package

In return we offer an attractive basic starting salary along with a significant profit linked bonus scheme, uncapped commission, company car, smartphone & I-Pad. We additionally offer flexible employee benefits incorporating the following: 25 days annual leave (plus bank holidays and entitlement rises with length of service), additional holiday purchasing scheme, contributory pension, childcare vouchers & employee discount scheme. Macfarlane Group is also dedicated to maximising every employee’s potential, by providing career development plans and pathways in an environment that fosters personal growth and continuous improvement.
