Engineering Excellence Manager

Based: UK

Basic Salary Circa: £55,000 + Car/Car Allowance + Bonus

My client is a leading global manufacturer of rigid plastic packaging for a variety of end markets including; food, beverage, industrial, cosmetics, pharma and chemicals. As a result of an initiative to drive excellence within engineering this organisation are looking for a forward-thinking problem solver that can work in a consultative manner.

The Role:

  • Reporting to Operational Excellence Director you will be responsible for the diagnosing the engineering performance across multiple sites throughout the UK with a view to working collaboratively to drive greater performance.
  • With a sharp eye for performance metrics you will always look to define your own performance by key improvements in; OEE, Unplanned Downtime, Quality and response time.
  • With control for a centralised engineering budget you will also look to work with department heads, site leads and human resources to design and deliver appropriate training and development programs.
  • Act as an advisor to procurement when appraising equipment investment decisions.

The Requirements:

  • Educated to a degree level with a suitable qualification within manufacturing, preferably you will be a chartered engineer.
  • Highly analytical you will have the ability to quickly assess a situation and understand the route-cause of any potential issues.
  • Comfortable from both a theoretical and practical stand-point you will be able to raise the bar from a technical perspective through translating often complex theory into down-to-earth advice.
  • Given the need to travel to many different UK manufacturing sites it is important that you are self-supporting and self-managing, while also being comfortable with extensive travel.
  • Strong leadership ability, comfortable engaging at both a “shop-floor” and executive level with internal and external stakeholders alike.
