Our Client is a specialist in corrugated packaging design and manufacturer based in the South East. The Company is an ISO accredited Company whose business is the design, manufacture and distribution of corrugated packaging and related supplies.

They are currently looking to recruit a Structural Designer who already understands different packaging materials and how the materials and design can affect the result. You will report directly to the Design Manager. Being a member of a close-knit team, you will be working with Customers of varying sizes, providing innovative and cost-effecting packaging solutions in line with business objectives and deadlines.

You will work in industry sectors in line with their sales and marketing strategy and have opportunities to work in both established and new markets, creating innovative and bespoke solutions for their Customers.

This role will suit a confident, self-motivated and organised Designer with an ability to inspire and work well within a team, happy under pressure, multi-tasking and juggling a varied workload in a fast paced but collaborative environment.

The ideal Candidate will have experience with Kasemake and will have no problem with standard packaging and point of sale design.

Job purpose, Objectives and Responsibilities:

  • Day to day tasks will involve designing from Customer briefs, assembly diagrams and 3D rendering
  • Produce innovative 3D design sketches and computer generated, (CAD), 3-dimensional visuals and proto-types from concept
  • Prepare plans, designs and specifications ready for estimating
  • Prepare quotes for established design concepts, establishing costs and financial viability
  • Develop creative concepts, in accordance with Client brief and budgets, including sample cutting and dispatch
  • Produce Customer samples for approval
  • Carry out first time order checks in Production
  • Liaise with internal and external Clients, providing technical expertise and production support, at the highest level of Customer Service
  • Calculate costings for cutters and stereos

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong and proven background within CAD design for the carton / packaging sector
  • Able to create and design accurate, detailed and to scale drawings
  • Understand their manufacturing capabilities and ensure designs are developed to maximise efficiency and cost
  • Working knowledge of non-complex artwork and print
  • Experience in a structural or production design background (ideally packaging or POS related)
  • Technical knowledge and attention to detail; including knowledge and experience of using CAD, Adobe Creative suite, Microsoft Office and Kasemake
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a highly dynamic and fast paced environment
  • A working knowledge of packaging materials
