In this role, you will report directly to the Applications Team Lead.
⦁ Working closely with the Area Sales Managers to liaise with customers, quickly build relationships to explore and define key project requirements
⦁ Visiting customers on a weekly basis to support sales and business development activity (circa two days per week)
⦁ Liaising with engineering disciplines to perform a key pivotal role in the generation of machine concepts, schematic engineering drawings and concept costings
⦁ Facilitating internal technical and commercial bid review meetings with the appropriate stakeholders
⦁ Preparation of proposal documents for submission to customers
⦁ Supporting the Business Development Managers, as required, post bid to maximize the company’s potential to win the business
⦁ Supporting the hand over to the project delivery team following contract award
⦁ Supporting the continual development of efficient applications and costing processes
⦁ Facilitating contractual negotiations
⦁ Engineering qualification (mechanical biased)
⦁ Application engineering experience, ideally in the development of automated special purpose machinery
⦁ Strong commercial awareness, previous experience in a customer facing / commercial role is highly desirable
⦁ Experience of designing and developing complex engineered solutions for demanding applications
⦁ Experience of developing and commercializing novel products for low volume manufacture (from 1 to 50 units a year) is also desirable
⦁ AutoCAD and/or Inventor skills are beneficial but not essential
⦁ Experience of proposal writing would be a distinct advantage but not essential
⦁ Strong interpersonal skills
⦁ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
⦁ Commercial aptitude
⦁ Great attention to details
⦁ Team based working style
