BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

WEST MIDLANDS / SOUTH WEST

£45-50K Salary + Bonus + Company Car + Other Benefits

Our client is a well-established market leader in the supply of storage and materials handling solutions in the UK. They are a very sales orientated business with a proven track record of designing and delivering fast and efficient storage and handling solutions.

They have a current requirement for a Business Development Manager. Reporting to the Sales Director, your role will be to manage and stimulate the production of profitable sales through Key Account Customers retaining credibility throughout.

The role is field based but preferred locations are from Wolverhampton to Taunton, into South Wales and as far East as the M25.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver all monthly and annual targets with existing and new customers
  • Take ownership and accountability for the negotiation of central Preferred Supplier Agreements with specified Accounts.
  • Present the Solution to senior decision makers, negotiate and secure multi-year central Preferred Supplier Agreements.
  • Develop Key Account Plans
  • Coordinate and deliver formal operational reviews in line with customer's expectations.
  • management/business reports are provided on time.
  • Ensure up to date and relevant price lists are delivered and communicated to customers on an annual basis, with sensible warning.
  • Develop and maintain a close business relationship with Key Account clients through regular contact by telephone and visits.
  • To be firm and tactful when managing "difficult customers"
  • Maintain and regularly evaluate - minimum annually - clients performance
  • Monitor movement on sales against their current price category
  • Communicate category changes or cooling periods
  • Ensure up to date and relevant price lists are delivered and communicated to customers on an annual basis, with sensible warning.
  • Updating and issuing spreadsheets on an annual basis to Key Account ensuring deadline dates are adhered to.
  • Liaising with the Marketing Team on advertising policy, including production, cost and timescale of catalogue to offer Key Account.

Key Competencies:

  • Essential attributes include proven selling, negotiating and listening skills at all levels; experience in Storage Equipment sales to Key Account clients and detailed product knowledge.
  • To be able to persuade, influence and sell a high-level solution-based proposition at Senior Management level.
  • A clear understanding of the principles and practices of senior Account Management and experience of managing significant B2B Key Accounts.
  • Ability to research, analyse, prepare and deliver winning Preferred Solution Supplier propositions to major National Key Accounts.
  • Planning - ability to prepare and execute National Key Account plans
  • Communication - outstanding communication and presentation skills.
  • PC literate - Intermediate level or above - in Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Ability to use digitals tools to aid design and presentation with clients
  • Desirable attributes included design skills to produce and understand drawings, development and delivery of presentations to clients, and the ability to liaise with colleagues to ensure customers receive the very best all round services within normal business practice.
