SHIFT ENGINEER - PRINTING/ CONVERTING / PACKAGING

WORCESTERSHIRE/GLOUCESTERSHIRE/WARWICKSHIRE

Salary £31,974.31 per annum (fixed term contract 3-6 months)
Continental Shifts: Rotating 3 nights on/ 5 off, 2 days on/ 1 off, 3 nights on/ 4 off, 4 days on/6 off

Our client is a manufacturer of efficient and sustainable packaging solutions and services for food products and for medical devices and pharmaceutical products. Currently looking to recruit a Relief Shift Engineer to ensure all plant and equipment is maintained in a safe and good working order.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide engineering support to OHSE, Quality, Production and administrative depts. throughout the site
  • To carry out PPM by following written SOPs on the critical machinery and undertake timely repairs to machines when breakdowns occur and to undertake any reasonable request
  • Use initiative to prioritise the work based on OHSE, customer requirements, performance and maintenance tasks
  • To comply with HSE legislation and the Company's Health & Safety arrangements and policy to ensure accidents and injuries do not occur
  • To be flexible in working arrangements in addition to working a reasonable amount of additional hours
  • To continue to learn from experience, observation and enquiry, building upon existing skills to improve competence and identify one's own training needs
  • Assist the Engineering Manager in ensuring that all tasks are performed in a safe and controlled manner, keeping within the set priorities
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards using the 6S approach
  • Provide daily reports as required
  • In addition to the above, the job holder is expected to undertake any task as directed by his/her line manager that could be reasonably expected within the remit described and is within his/her capability.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have a formal Mechanical and or Electrical Engineering qualification to degree or C&G, preferably through an indentured apprenticeship
  • Be able to follow engineering documentation
  • Can prove the attainment of skills within a maintenance engineering and continuous production environment preferably in the printing, converting or packaging industry
  • Have a range of fabrication competencies working with resistant materials particularly lathe operation and MIG welding
  • Be familiar with engineering IT and PC applications
