Our client is looking for a CAD Operator who will be responsible for producing and maintaining design files for the production of the various tooling required for the packaging industry. Support production staff and customers alike through a variety of tasks from proposal layouts/designs to the finished article.

The most important thing that is a requirement for the company is IMPACT CAD knowledge and an understanding of carton layouts or CAD experience with an understanding of packaging.

  • Continually assess and identify areas for improvement from current production processes to improve quality, reduce waste/defects, improve production times or to reduce operating or material costs, and be part of a team where appropriate to deliver the suggested improvements
  • Strive for right first-time in any task undertaken.
  • Incase of defects ensure that waste is clearly identified, recorded, and reported using the company's non-conformance system
  • Proactive in a high standard of workplace organisation to ensure that the environment is efficient, safe, clean and tidy in line with any 5S implementation
  • If called upon to do so, be ready and willing to work in other departments to help the business meet its customer expectations
  • Help the company to protect the environment by using the correct systems in place for the waste that they generate and the energy and materials that the company use
  • Work as part of a team in terms of training/knowledge share to maintain the company's high standing in the industry and proactively seek out training in order to further your knowledge of their products and processes.
  • Also be willing to be trained on any products and processes unknown to you.

The fulfilment of all the core competencies as outlined below:

  • To use the company's administration software, including the standard Microsoft packages; Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Prepare CAD files for the manufacture of cutting and creasing dies and associated tooling
  • Utilize the Impact software, SharePoint and other software where needed, to deliver a "right first time" production file
  • To have a good appreciation of the company's products including a full understanding of specifications
  • Be able to appreciate how the design relates to the customers machine and end product
  • Knowledge and appreciation of the manufacturing processes beyond CAD
  • Be able to interpret the customers' requirements on any given order and, in the event that any missing or unclear information
  • Be able to communicate clearly with the customer to get the correct outcome
  • To work with the CAD and Production Manager to facilitate workflow needs
  • Interact and liaise with shopfloor staff to ensure designs are suitable and are best practice for manufacture
  • Any stock items, punches/special rule etc. required are ordered at the earliest point possible to prevent any delay in customer expectations
  • Work as part of a team in terms of training/knowledge share to maintain the company's high standing in the industry
  • Operate within the company procedures and checks to produce a high level of product
  • To perform the above in a timely manner whilst not comprising the company's quality standards
