Finishing Gluing Minder X2 - Packaging




£32,506 + Equal Contributory Pension (Up To 5%) + 22 Days Holiday

Hours of Work: Working 4 shift patterns

  • The shift pattern follows a rotating 28-day cycle, where a cycle is working 3 x Days, 3 x Rest Days, 3 x Nights, 2 x Rest Days, 3 x Days, 3 x Rest Days, 3 Nights and 8 x Rest Days, until the cycle recommences.
  • Shift Days - 6am to 6pm and Shift Nights - 6pm to 6am.

Our Client is currently looking to recruit a Finishing Gluing Minder to operate a Gluing machine and its associated ancillary equipment to their optimum efficiency. They will be responsible for all aspects of efficiencies, quality and waste. They will report to the Shift Leaders / Finishing Manager.

Key Objectives:

  • To operate Gluing Machines in line with daily standards, whilst adhering to specific job targets
  • To develop individual skills, both on a technical, practical and interpersonal basis
  • To provide a continual and effective service within the department, fulfilling key tasks as required
  • To constantly strive to improve machine efficiencies and minimise waste
  • To follow all quality systems and procedures within the department
  • To maintain good housekeeping in the area, whilst working to specific maintenance schedules and work practices within the department
  • To work effectively and efficiently as part of a cohesive team

Working Practices:

  • Ensure compliance with all existing systems, standards and procedures within the specific work area to satisfy both company and customer requirements - including ISO Quality, Hygiene, Health & Safety and Environmental Standards
  • Assist in organising the workplace to achieve high standards of housekeeping, and report any defects, hazards and / or issues to the relevant personnel immediately


  • Liaising with production planning to ensure jobs are produced on schedule in the correct sequence
  • Undertaking pre-production checks prior to any job going on the machine to ensure all components items are available
  • Solving machine problems whether technical, mechanical, material, or service related to ensure quality is maintained and deliveries met
  • Set up and run the machine in line with best practice and thereafter maintaining product quality through continuous monitoring and adjustment
  • Be prepared to undertake routine maintenance, mechanical adjustments and minor repairs to maintain the production plan, identifying more serious matters to the Shift Leader so planned maintenance can be arranged
  • Achieving, as a minimum, press related key performance indicators and actively seeking to determine means of improving them
  • Performing quality checks in line with the procedures in place and accurately completing all associated quality and process documentation
  • By flexible working within the department ensure that any breaks taken do not affect the continuous running of the machine
  • Ensure that any safety issues are addressed immediately and that the Company's Health & Safety policy is not compromised


  • Good level of numeracy and literacy
  • NVQ or equivalent qualification
  • Desirable - GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Effective team player
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Skills / Experience:

  • Good mechanical / craft ability
  • Technical ability in all aspects of production process
  • Understanding of how the department interacts with other areas of the business

Key Interfaces:

  • Internal: Gluing Operators / Assistants, Team / Shift Leaders, Finishing Manager, Operations Manager, Supply Chain, other Production areas
