Up to £45,162 depending on Experience + Company Pension + 25 Days Holiday

Shift: 39 hours per Week - Rotating Shift Pattern 2pm - 10pm / 6am - 2pm / 10pm - 6am

Our client is a leading corrugated packaging manufacturer with multiple sites throughout the UK. They provide corrugated cases, die cuts and high quality printed corrugated products to a wide range of market sectors including FMCG markets.

They are looking to recruit a Production Shift Manager to effectively manage the production resources to produce cost-effective and high-quality goods which enable the company strengthening its market position and fulfil its clients' requirements and expectations

Responsibilities:

  • Secure on-time delivery of production orders
  • Ensure optimal resources utilisation (people / machinery / raw materials) to minimise the production costs
  • Control the asset utilisation and condition and report on the capex requirements
  • Build the effective production crews
  • Control and execute the high level of housekeeping of the production area
  • Tasks / Duties:
  • Secure on-time realisation of production orders
  • Execute the appropriate information flow regarding planned orders and demand on production consumables
  • Establish and maintain the regular feedbacks and information flow between the corrugator, conversion, despatch, customer services to secure the smooth product flow
  • Ensure availability of the crews with appropriate skill base to run the specific orders
  • Oversee the maintenance works across the production area and plan the preventive initiatives in close conjunction with the Engineering department to secure availability of required capacities
  • Ensure optimal resources utilisation (people / machinery / raw materials) to minimise the production costs and customer complaints
  • Ensure appropriate product / machinery allocation and undertake the corrective actions if required to ensure the optimal output in terms of quality and costs
  • Oversee and analyse the raw materials utilisation and investigate on the significant variances to ensure the optimal output in terms of quality and costs
  • Regularly check the crews allocation to ensure the best utilisation of skills and knowledge of the available resources
  • Control department's budget, report on variances, investigate on the root causes and undertake the corrective actions if required
  • Control the asset utilisation and condition and report on the capex requirements
  • Fulfil the reporting requirements on the capex needs
  • Support the Operations Manager in investigation on the possible cost effective solutions in close conjunction with the engineering department
  • Support the Operations Manager preparation of the capex-related documentation for budget purposes
  • Control the investment works progress and undertake the corrective actions if required
  • Build an effective production crew
  • Select the best available candidates for the production crews
  • Ensure access to the necessary trainings for the production crews and support assistants to broaden the available knowledge and skill base and thus to secure the optimal outcome in terms of costs and quality
  • Act as a source of expertise for the production crews
  • Manage the performance and development of the production crews
  • Control and execute the high level of housekeeping of the production area
  • Execute the production workstations to be kept clean and tidy and appropriately guarded
  • Keep control over the designated machines in terms of its operational condition and ensure the respective crews are performing all designated maintenance duties and responsibilities associated with the specific machine
  • Ensure updated information is passed on the regular basis to the Engineering Department of any maintenance-related issues on the machines
  • Execute signing off all the required Safe Working Systems by the production crews before beginning the specific operation / task by the their members
  • Execute the production crews to follow all of the Health and Safety regulations respective for the specific workstation as well as the general company requirements in this area
  • Execute from the production crews reporting on the accidents, hazards and near misses as well as faulty equipment
  • Take reasonable care for own and others health and safety
  • Co-operate with management on Health and Safety matters
  • Ensure Health and Safety training of subordinates
  • Comply with the Company safety requirements as detailed within the SHE Policy
