The role:                                                  

Optimisation / Compliance

  • Ensure a robust and effective process for capturing current demand (volume and value) and to support commercial teams in optimising the business P&L
  • Ensure a robust process for converting the demand signal to the required formats for effective supply chain management from inbound requests, to manufacturing & distribution
  • As custodian of the “1 Plan” (S&OP) process, ensure the framework exists for effective, cross functional problem resolution
  • Own and deliver the sales / demand forecast accuracy over the short, medium- & long-term horizon
  • Ensure demand planning master data is maintained
  • Collate market intelligence and assumptions from Marketing and Sales to build a rolling
  • 36-month demand plan, utilising statistical models for base sales, modelling promotional activity and capturing NPD launches

Strategy Deployment / Integrated Business Planning

  • As Leader of the monthly business planning process, provide transparency of business performance against key assumptions, metrics and milestones
  • Develop the Product Review to have a clear innovation plan, risks and opportunities
  • Support the innovation plan by providing an evaluation of value and volumes and providing the necessary demand information to enable successful product launch
  • Ensure the commercial reviews and account surgeries provide best possible insight to the commercial teams
  • Support the supply review process so that there is clarity of progress versus milestones and an effective capacity management process is in place
  • Develop a community of facilitators so that information flows effectively between the functions
  • Support the implementation of business wide KPI reporting / visibility
  • Ensure an up-to-date view of risks and opportunities is maintained
  • Co-ordinate the supply chain response across all functions for business opportunities including those that require a quick turnaround

Operational Performance

  • Forecast accuracy at SKU level and product family level measured by customer / category for commercial and by site and technology for supply chain
  • Elimination of forecast bias, consistent over or under forecasting of demand
  • Ensure robust procedures and cross functional collaboration is in place for event management of demand events (promotions, new products, new customers, customer cessations, product cessations) to eliminate waste and maximise service in line with the functions objectives of 001 (zero customer failures, zero wastage, 1 set of aligned numbers)


  • Works cross functionally with commercial, logistics, customer service, planning and manufacturing improving Ways of Working
  • Overall responsibility for the demand planning team, including succession planning, development, team ethic, regular one-to-ones and effective performance and development plans

External Networks

  • Develop close working relationship with both production sites
  • Build collaborative relationships with Commercial and NPD team to ensure delivery of Zero Shorts
  • Develop strong relationships with IT to facilitate delivery of systems improvement initiatives
  • Regular interaction with Senior Managers
