The client:

Part of a successful group, the company is a leading packaging manufacturer supplying a blue chip customer base.


Primary Purpose:

Lead, manage and develop the supply chain function for the site incorporating planning, production scheduling across 33 lines, logistics, dispatch and warehouse functions

Four direct reports: three planners and one warehouse supervisor

Oversee 'Continuous Improvement' changes in the supply chain function to support the site’s achievement of OEE and productivity targets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-one role with direct daily involvement in all aspects of the supply chain function but with particular attention to planning and production scheduling duties
  • Take responsibility for the information systems required to co-ordinate these activities
  • Work closely with the site based manufacturing team to ensure customer order fulfillment needs are met ‘on time and in full’
  • Communication with suppliers ensuring accurate and timely delivery of raw materials to the required quality standards
  • Training of all direct reports ensuring they have the skills and competency to fulfil their own job responsibilities to a high standard
  • Ensuring all internal production schedules are accurately updated and any variances reported to the senior management team
  • Provide leadership and direction for the team, ensuring safe systems of work, training and competence, whilst encouraging a continuous improvement culture
  • Continually seek to develop and improve the existing planning processes in line with group operations
  • Provide weekly and monthly KPI updates for the Plant Manager / management team


Technical qualifications & experience:

  • Experience of leading and motivating a supply chain team (with bias towards planning/logistics) within a fast moving dynamic manufacturing environment
  • Strong planning background and proven ability to handle a production schedule that requires a flexible approach to manage customer orders whilst still meeting requirements
  • Experience of training, mentoring and developing people
  • System oriented / IT literate
  • Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Will challenge the status quo driving improvement though KPIs
  • Financial and commercial acumen
  • Proven problem solving skills with evidence of root cause analysis
