TRANSPORT MANAGER NORTH WEST
Salary Guide: Circa £30K
Hours of working: 8am - 4:30pm Monday to Thursday 8am - 12:30am Friday
Our client is a very well-established packaging manufacturer based in the North West who specialise in paper and corrugated packaging solutions, they are looking to recruit a Transport Manager to run their busy despatch department. Previous experience of logistics is preferable, but our client would consider a candidate who feels they are ready to take the next step in their career. The main purpose of the role is to manage the company's vehicles/drivers and expedite deliveries in the most cost/time effective manner.
Responsibilities
- Reporting directly to the group's Production Director
- Responsible for most aspects of running the department from recruitment, Drivers hours and tachographs, servicing, MOT's, repairs, planning, routing, keeping customers advised of deliveries, securing outgoing work on a daily basis.
- Overseeing the transportation of the company's goods
- Liaising with Factory Managers regarding timescales of finished goods
- Arrange despatch routes when utilising company vehicles
- Making sure that products are despatched on time and arrive in good condition
- Follow quality, health and safety and other procedures currently in place
- Conduct an accurate monthly stocktake
- Book transport with outside contractors
- Book in deliveries as required with customers
- Implement best practices and drive continuous improvement activities
- Deal with any transport complaints/issues
- Ordering pallets/raw materials as required
- Control of booking vehicle checks
- Consulting with FLT contractor for servicing and repairs
- FLT counterbalance licence is preferable
- Additional peripheral duties to be outlined in interview
Requirements:
- Management/planning/leadership skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, identify, and address problems and meet tight deadlines
- Good computer knowledge
