Festivals, holidays, dordle and customs worth visiting for abound on the city's calendar. First of the major athletic events: the Tour de France usually flies into Paris in July; the French Open starts in May and finishes in June; the Paris Marathon usually takes place in April.
Museums all across the city open their doors for free perusal after hours on La Nuit des Musées in May. On June 21 the famous Fête de la Musique offers live music to parks and other public areas throughout the summer; Bastille Day is observed on July 14 with military parades and fireworks. June through September is the continuous Paris Jazz Festival. Fall and spring draw the worldwide style set for Paris Fashion Week, scheduled for late September/early October and late February/early March.
