Packaging Specialist / Packaging Technologist

The job opportunity
We’re looking for someone to work within the packaging team and work closely with a number of different internal and external clients.
The focus will is to develop new packs , promotional packaging and point of sale materials as well as running assessments on new materials, to develop innovation and cost saving projects.
You will liaise closely with suppliers with the aim of producing samples, understand processes as well as generally developing relationships.
Being the contact for Packaging and R&D (pack design etc) you’ll ensure that new packaging trials and start-ups are supported and conducted effectively.
A key part of the role is to improve system reliability in conjunction with engineering and product quality with Quality Assurance.
You will be asked to attend UK Retailer Brand Technical Reviews and feedback to the team any technical changes or developments as well as providing technical assistance and sharing ideas where needed.
We’re looking for someone who ideallty has previous experience in high speed packaging environment such as scales, baggers, cartoners, casepackers and palletisers, alongside experience with packaging materials.
The role requires extensive coaching of colleagues across various teams so you’ll be keen to develop others.
You’ll have a ‘hands on’ project management style, leading teams from a technical perspective in building working standards and procedures.
You will likely come from a technical, engineering or equivalent manufacturing background and also have demonstrable experience in continuous improvement techniques and tools. Importantly you’ll be keen to progress and develop within a forward-looking manufacturing site.
